Jacqueline Winn’s short stories have won over 100 awards, including 35 first prizes, in international literary competitions. Her stories have been published in anthologies in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. She has also written two novels and a number of scripts for stage and short film, as well as a few poems which have also won awards.
Jacqui lives on a farm at Possum Brush on the east coast of Australia, where she and her husband have herds of Hereford cows and Boer goats, as well as assorted chickens. They also have a small orchard and a big vegetable garden. She is regularly tempted away from the farm and her writing by her two grown-up children and three grandsons who live in Sydney. Writing, family and farm – a fine combination.
Writing and community groups often invite Jacqui to give workshops on various aspects of creative writing. They are always inspired by her insistence that anyone can write, given a few simple pointers, and by her encouragement simply to put pen to the page, or fingers to keyboard, and begin. Jacqui also mentors school students undertaking fiction writing for their major work in matriculation English.
Ginninderra Press Australia has published two collections of Jacqui’s stories, Once More With Feeling and Salt & Pepper. Mini e-books of Jacqui’s recent award-winning short stories are available on Amazon Kindle.
